Authentic Asia was founded in 1999 by Tina Patterson, who had been working in the travel industry for 10 years and had traveled throughout some of the most remote regions in Asia and the Middle East. Tina’s expertise and vision became the foundation upon which Authentic Asia was built.

Authentic Asia is a small company. Each of our staff has journeyed the globe “twice over,” getting deeply acquainted with off-the-beaten path destinations as they become accessible. At the same time, we continue to re-discover new experiences in more familiar places during our travels. Over the years, many of our “on the ground” colleagues such as our wonderful guides and drivers, have become part of the Authentic Asia family and have contributed to the memories of a smooth and unforgettable trip. We are happy that many of our travelers are repeat clients or referrals, including former ambassadors, well-known writers and television personalities. In addition, we are working with renowned institutions such as Sotheby’s, Princeton University, Smith College and Harvard Museum of Natural History.
